They wanted to show possible shoppers more of their books (a long tail strategy)and automatically hyperlink books to pertinent information from Wikipedia to improve user shopping experience.
Technology:
Akademika.no's e-commerce system is based on Drupal and we have integrated Conteio technology to present users with related books and relevant Wikipedia links while they're shopping. Both recommendations are dynamically created through automatic hyperlinking. Visitors are not simply given more book choices to choose from, but rather recommendations that are most pertinent to the content of book they're currently visiting.
The result:
Automatic hyperlinking helps Akademika increase pageviews, cross-selling, improved user shopping experience and implement a “long tail” strategy.
